IS MY KARUP DESIGN PRODUCT ASSEMBLED WHEN DELIVERED?

When you start assembling your Karup Design product you can follow the instruction you receive in the package or find it here.

HOW DO I CARE FOR MY KARUP DESIGN PRODUCT?

If in doubt about how to care for your Karup Design product please visit our care page here or visit any product page from which you can read about the product-specific care.

Enjoy your purchase!

CAN I TRY OUT A KARUP DESIGN PRODUCT IN A STORE?

Since we mainly have online retailers, we do not have stores for you to try out a Karup Design product. What we do have is videos showing you the functionalities of the furniture unfolding. If you doubt which futon mattress to choose for your Karup Design bed, you can explore more here. Furthermore, you can find the average mattress hardness vs. softness on the last image on each of our mattress product pages here.

CAN THE COVER BE TAKEN OFF THE FUTON MATTRESS?

You might notice a zipper on our futon mattresses. Though, this is not for taking off the covers of the futon mattresses. When sewed by hand, buttons or quilts are fixed in the futon mattresses to keep the filling in place. As an advice, we recommend that you use a sheet when sleeping on your futon mattress. In that way, you extend the life and beauty of your futon mattress.

HOW DO I CHOOSE THE RIGHT MATTRESS FOR SLEEPING?

If in doubt of which mattress to choose for sleeping you can find the average mattress hardness vs. softness on the last image on each of our futon mattress product pages here. Furthermore, you can learn more about futon mattresses here.

If you like to add another mattress for your Karup Design bed frame this is possible. Our bed sizes available match the mattress sizes that fit into the bed frame.

HOW IS THE COMPOSITION OF THE FABRICS?

We offer different fabrics in our product range. To read more about our fabric collection and the colors available please visit our ‘Colors and fabrics’-page here.

HOW TO CARE FOR MY TATAMI MAT?

All tatami mats must be kept dry in order to avoid any mold/mildew. We recommend that your tatami is only wiped with a slightly damp cloth and no harsh cleaning solutions or vacuum along the weave of the tatami. Going against the weave direction may damage the tatami or cause the dirt to get pushed into it. While using vacuum cleaning, make sure to select the weakest setting.

You might notice a scent from your tatami mat. This comes from the natural rice straws and will disappear over time - therefore this is not categorized as a fault of the product.

Tatami mats are sensitive to moisture, avoid leaving carpet or other covering material on top of a tatami mat as it creates a moist environment for mold. We recommend cleaning and airing out the tatami once in a while, most likely up against a wall. Dry and sunny days are best for airing the tatami mats.

HOW TO CARE FOR MY FRAME?

The knots in our natural pinewood frames are considered as individual characteristics and charisma of each piece of furniture. Not two will look the same. You can expect the natural pinewood surfaces to change over time when being permanently exposed to climate and humidity fluctuations. These changes are normal for natural raw materials.

Please be aware that the following points apply in general:

· Do not place hot objects on the furniture
· Do not place candles directly on the furniture
· Immediately wipe off any spilled liquids
· Regularly check if the screws and fittings are tight
· The typical, aromatic wooden odor is always a proof
of quality for our natural wood furniture

I AM MISSING A SPARE PART. WHAT CAN I DO?

If the unfortunate situation of a missing spare part occurs, please contact the retailer from whom you bought your Karup Design product.

WHERE DO I FIND SPECIFICATIONS OF KARUP DESIGN PRODUCTS?

On each Karup Design product page you will find a drop-down named 'Specifications' on the right side of the page. Here you will find all product specifications needed.

WHEN WILL A KARUP DESIGN PRODUCT BE AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE?

Every year we add new designs to our collection. That can be both Sofa bedsBeds and mattresses, and Storage & more products. Follow us on Instagram or Facebook to be informed as soon as the products are available for purchase.

CAN A REGULAR MATTRESS FIT MY KARUP DESIGN BED FRAME?

Yes, it can. Even though we design our beds to fit a futon bed mattress, you can use a regular mattress in the bed frame. Please be aware that we do not take responsibility for the fit or the look in this matter. The mattress size measure fitting the bed frame is available on each product page of the bed category. The 'Size' of the Karup Design bed defined the mattress measures that fit into the frame of the bed.

I LEFT A SPOT ON MY FUTON MATTRESS. WHAT CAN I DO?

Futons do not tolerate water. In case of an incident please clean your futon with a damp cloth with a small amount of clear dishwashing soap (You should never do this on a linen or cotton fabric as stains can occur). Do not rub but clean your futon by dapping the area from dirt. Finish your cleaning by using a clean and non-dyed cloth to dry out the area. For guidance on how to treat our different fabrics, you can go to our care-page here or find the product-specific care on each of our product pages. Please choose the fabric color, for which you wish to read the care information.

WHAT IS THE FILLING OF THE BED MATTRESSES?

We offer six types of bed mattresses in our collection. They are all having a different core to provide diversity in comfort. You can read more about our futons and the fillings of our bed mattresses here.

WHAT IS THE FILLING OF THE SOFA BED MATTRESSES?

For all sofa bed mattresses in our collection, the fillings are the same. The only difference is the size and thickness of the sofa bed mattresses. In our sofa bed mattresses, we use the waste from futon production in the filling. This mixed waste fabric is used with a polyfoam core to add firmness to the sofa bed mattresses. At the button of our 'What is a futon'-page you can read more.
